We only employ experienced insurance industry specialists who understand brokered business and have the technical knowledge to deliver the best outcomes for your clients. Glenn Ross UAA Group Executive General Manager Construction
Glenn brings over 40 years’ experience to his role as UAA Group’s Executive General Manager of Construction. Prior to starting MECON Insurance in November 2003, Glenn spent 15 years underwriting engineering risks in both Australia and New Zealand and 10 years as an insurance broker – specialising in construction, plant and engineering insurance. During this time, he was also a risk manager to one of the top 20 multinational construction companies. He has a strong working knowledge of the industry and his experience is driving MECON Insurance to become one of Australia’s leading providers of construction insurance.
Kishan Dasan General Manager
Kishan has over 16 years of insurance experience, including his role as AIG’s Head of Construction for Asia Pacific and then as Director of Strategic Growth, Construction and Natural Resources at Willis Towers Watson. During this time, Kishan has been at the forefront of some of the region’s largest construction and energy projects. Kishan prides himself on bringing a strong technical background to provide clients with a seamless end-to-end solution. His qualifications include Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Computer Systems) and a Diploma in Risk Engineering (Clemson University).
Milos Skopljak National Claims Manager
Milos joined MECON in 2010, prior to which he held senior claims roles with two other large general insurers. He has many years of experience across multiple insurance classes, including but not limited to construction, heavy machinery, property and liability. A result and service driven professional, Milos is highly regarded within the industry and is a valuable member of our team. Milos holds a university Graduate Diploma in Financial Services and is a NSW Justice of the Peace. He is also an affiliate with multiple industry related groups and associations.
Howaida Nakhla National Underwriting Manager
Howaida has been in the insurance market for over 48 years with the past 38 years specialising in underwriting and managing engineering and casualty portfolios. Prior to joining MECON Insurance, Howaida has held senior underwriting management roles in Queensland and NSW. Her service ethic to her clients is outstanding and her passion for underwriting is well recognised in the market.
Daniel Joiner UAA Group General Manager WA
Daniel fell into the insurance industry in 2010, working exclusively with builders at a boutique Melbourne brokerage. This hands-on experience laid a strong foundation in risk assessment and sparked a passion for underwriting. He joined MECON in 2012 and relocated to Perth in 2015 to establish and grow MECON’s Western and Central region portfolios. In 2025, Daniel expanded his role to become UAA Group General Manager WA, adding the UAA Western region portfolio to his responsibilities. Guided by UAA Group’s values—Integrity, Innovation, Connection, Resilience, and Growth—and supported by a high-performing teams, Daniel draws on his broking and underwriting background to deliver tailored risk solutions and build trusted relationships across the insurance industry.
Con Stoitsis Distribution Manager
Con joined UAA Group as Distribution Manager, overseeing national broker engagement and sales performance across UAA and MECON. With 25 years of experience in distribution, business development and underwriting roles, including senior leadership at Steadfast, he brings deep insight into broker markets, team mentoring and execution. Known for his collaborative and outcome-driven approach, Con focuses on removing barriers for his team, tailoring broker strategies and driving strong growth across brands and regions.
Simon Marr Regional Manager East
Simon has over 25 years’ underwriting experience in the Australian and UK insurance market. Since joining MECON Insurance in 2007, Simon has broadened his skills and knowledge of construction within Australia. Prior to this, Simon worked for two global insurers. His experience includes underwriting commercial risks and delivering practical insurance solutions. Simon enjoys working with people to help achieve positive results and values the need to maintain exceptional standards of service.
Courtney Spann Regional Manager North
Starting her insurance career in 2010 as Office Manager, Courtney soon moved to an underwriting support role. Courtney was nominated for “The Mick Lambert Barker Award” for “Service Above and Beyond” for the 2013/2014 year. Courtney’s roles prior to MECON Insurance saw her specialise in Contractors Plant Insurance. Courtney started as an Underwriter in our QLD office in 2018 and was promoted to Senior Underwriter in early 2021 then advanced to Regional Manager North in 2023.
Elise Pretto Regional Manager South
Elise has over 18 years of experience in the industry after joining MECON Insurance in 2006 as the 10th employee in our Sydney office. Elise began as a receptionist and progressed through various roles, discovering her passion for underwriting, broadening her skills and knowledge in construction and contractors plant risks within Australia. Elise's journey took a pivotal turn in 2010, working closely with our National Underwriting Manager, Howaida Nakhla. She then established our WA office in 2013 and expanded her underwriting expertise across SA, TAS, and VIC. In 2021, Elise was appointed Regional Manager - VIC. Her commitment to her team, technical skills and long-standing broker relationships has been instrumental to drive success and build a strong presence in the region.

MECON Insurance Pty Ltd is a subsidiary of Steadfast Group Ltd (ABN 98 073 659 677) (SGL).
SGL may receive a professional services fee (PSF) from insurers, premium funders and underwriting agencies such as MECON Insurance Pty Ltd (Partner) for access to regulatory and compliance support; marketing and communications; data insights; and access to technology platforms. The PSF is an agreed amount between SGL and the relevant Partner, usually annually. The PSF is not determined by the volume of the business that the Steadfast Network brokers place, nor is the amount of the PSF known to the Steadfast Network Brokers, so it is not able to influence recommendations to their clients. MECON Insurance Pty Ltd may have access to shared services from SGL, including: compliance tools; procedures; manuals and training; legal; HR banking; and group purchasing arrangements. These services are funded by SGL, subsidised by SGL or SGL receives a fee for them.
