UAA and MECON, proudly part of UAA Group, are proud to announce that our very own Andreanna Murphy has been named BDM of the Year at the 2026 Insurance Business Awards – a nationally recognised honour celebrating excellence, leadership and impact across the insurance industry.
Andreanna’s win is a powerful testament not only to her outstanding performance as a Business Development Manager, but also to her perseverance, commitment to growth and belief in backing herself, even when others didn’t.
Reflecting on her journey, Andreanna shared a moment early in her career that shaped everything that followed.
“Early in my insurance career, I was once made to feel like I wasn’t enough. I still remember walking into my manager’s office with a flyer for an industry program, only to hear, ‘I don’t think you have what it takes to get into this type of program.’
It’s a comment I’ll always remember, and one I’ve come to be grateful for.”
Rather than letting that moment define her, Andreanna used it as fuel.
“Because of those words, I got to work. Not to prove anyone else wrong, but to prove to myself that I had what it takes.”
Andreanna went on to expand her expertise across underwriting and broking, combining formal study with practical experience, building strong industry relationships, and consistently showing up with professionalism, integrity and drive.
Her career trajectory changed when she joined a business that genuinely invests in its people.
“I landed a role with a company that truly backs its people, alongside a manager and mentor who selflessly supports my professional development – and that made all the difference.”
Now, with the BDM of the Year Award and her acceptance into the UAC Leadership Academy, Andreanna’s journey has come full circle – from self‑doubt to industry recognition.
“Don’t let someone else’s opinion define what you’re capable of.
If you’ve ever been told you’re not enough, trust yourself, do the work, and keep going.
Your ‘Pretty Woman’ moment might be closer than you think.”
