MECON Insurance is pleased to be recognised by two independent industry awards – we don’t self-nominate for these which makes it even more meaningful.

The first is the LMI ClaimsComparison, where MECON Insurance is the only insurer in Australia to achieved a 5 star claims service rating for construction and 4.5 stars for contractors plant. LMI ClaimsComparison rates the claims service of major Australian insurers based on speed, proactiveness, accuracy and fairness. The star rating has been calculated following a regular survey.

We were also named as a finalist for the 2019 Mansfield Awards in the specialist category. The winner was TravelCard, and our fellow nominees were Global Transport Insurance, National Transport Insurance and Shannons Insurance.

The Mansfield Awards are part of an annual industry awards event to recognise claims excellence in the Australian insurance industry. The awards are named in honour of the British Lord Chief Justice who introduced the industry to the principle of uberrima fides (utmost good faith) some 250 years ago. The Mansfield Awards emphasises the vital role that claims professionals play in the insurance industry and recognises those achieving excellence in this field.

These awards are a not-for-profit event. Any and all funds raised via sponsorship of The Mansfield Awards will be used exclusively to cover costs, with any remaining funds to be donated to the Amal Mulia Orphanage in Sumatra, Indonesia. These funds will help rebuild and provide care for children orphaned by the earthquake and resultant tsunami in 2007.

Three in a row for MECON.

MECON received the brokers’ choice vote for best Construction Agency and best Annual Construction Policy wording in the Insurance Business Australia survey.  This result means brokers have unanimously nominated MECON as best Construction Agency and best Annual Construction Policy wording for a third consecutive year.

We are delighted that this commitment has also been recognised by the industry and our peers.  MECON was most recently awarded the inaugural Australian Insurance Business Awards.
 
Specifically, we won the award for the ‘Most Effective Internet Presence – Underwriting Agency’, at the inaugural Insurance Business Awards in Sydney on Friday 4th May.

With the sector growth in digitally operated systems and digital presence, this award serves to recognise the progress MECON has made in this new area. At the same time it serves to demonstrate a commitment to further progress in the digital world.

MECON was also a finalist in two other categories, ‘Australian Underwriting Agency of the Year’ and ‘Underwriting Agency Claims Team of the Year’.
