MECON’s Contractual Liability policy covers injury or damage an insured is responsible for under contract.

The range of occupations and contracts is not confined to the construction industry. The policy envisages cover for most occupations and the many different contracts/contractual relationships these occupations have.

This policy can be for a specific Single or all Annual contracts. The contractual limit of liability for this policy is not specified in any contract or guideline. In fact there is no contractual requirement to have this cover, however it fills a gap missing in our market and is offered by MECON as a standalone policy.

Our Contractual Liability policy is the first of its kind in the Australian market.

The policy contains limits for contractual obligations for:

  • Legal and other costs
  • Shortfall in another policy
  • Bailment obligations under a hire contract
  • Contractual dispute
  • Damaged underground services
  • Mitigation costs

The policy also contains a hold harmless clause and covers a clients Contractual Liability to others arising from the action of its contractors and subcontractors.

The policy can also be extended to include:

  • Contractors and subcontractors
  • Single (or individual) contracts. Note that annual cover is standard
  • Products liability
